- Who are Cubify artists?
Anyone who uploads and shares their 3D creations on Cubify is a Cubify Artist! With new tools for 3D modeling, 3D scanning, and 3D printing, there's a new frontier for art where creativity can be expressed like never before. Cubify is the playground for artists to create, monetize, and share ideas with others.
- How do I become a Cubify Artist?
Anyone can become a Cubify Artist! Once you upload your first 3D printable model to your Cubify account, your status will be automatically updated to that of an "Artist." You can make your models private or public. You can set a purchase price on public models so that people can either download the model themselves, or purchase a print of the model from Cubify Cloud Printing. Upload your models
- How do I upload a model?
First, make sure you have a Cubify account. Once you're signed in, upload your models. You'll be able to add additional pictures of your model (including a photo of it 3D printed, if you have one!), set its price, give it a title and tags, and more.
- How can I earn money from this?
It's completely free to become a Cubify Artist – no signup fees and no fees of any kind to list or host your products. You set the price for your creations, then get one of the best royalty rates in the industry: 60% royalty on sales of your digital model. People can order physical prints of your creation through Cubify Cloud Printing. Cubify automatically calculates the base price for each cloud print, and you can now decide how much you would like to earn for each product you sell by setting your own profit margin on top of the base price.
Cubify will print and ship your 3D printable models to your customers. We have a very robust security and anti-fraud system that protects your creations.
- How do I promote my creations?
There are a number of things you can do. First, manage your uploads and your store page within your account dashboard. The more info you add - names, images, and keywords/tags, the more appealing your models will be and the better they'll show up when people search on the Cubify Store.
- What's Cubify Cloud Printing?
Cubify Cloud Printing is our service where we print items for you using our industrial 3D printers. This gives you more options for materials and sizes than just printing on a Cube 3D printer at home. We print in a variety of types of plastic and nylon, as well as a Zprint, which is a ceramic-like option that's a true multi-color print.
Any creation on Cubify.com which has a "3D Print" price can be 3D printed using the Cubify.com Cloud printing services. The "3D Print" tag means that the creation has been verified by the Cubify team to be ready for 3D printing. When you want a piece Cloud Printed, you can select the print material, shipping option and payment method. Cubify will print the creation and mail it to you.
- What is a 3D printable model?
Cubify marks a regular model as 3D printable only if it has files that can be sent directly to a 3D printer. A 3D printer needs files in the industry standard file format STL, or WRL for multiple color prints. Most 3D design software can export to STL. 3D printable models have additional requirements in their design - models must be watertight, which means that the model has only closed solids, and no open surfaces. (All planes must have some thickness - an inside and an outside.) Cubify will also check additional factors in size and geometry before verifying a model as 3D printable.
- How do I get my model 3D printed privately using the Cubify Cloud 3D Print service without it showing up in the store?
Add your 3D print file in My Creations and mark the creation "private." Also check the "Offer for cloud print" box. Only you will be able to see your private creation and order a print of it using Cubify Cloud Printing.
- I want my creations to be printed in full multi-color.
For 3D printing in color, the most common file types are .WRL or .3DS. They contain all the information needed to build the part using color on the ZPrinters.
- I want to develop apps for the Cubify.com platform.
