I downloaded the software but could not get it to actually open….
All I got was the welcome screen

Hi DS, please email cubifysupport@cubify.com and we’ll get someone to help you figure out what’s going wrong.

Very awesome tools, please add obj import/export =)

I understand that 3ds does not want to compete cubify invent with Alibre and therefore it is trimmed.
But from a (CAD Newbie) user’s point of view, the high learning curve and the price does not make sense, if I can not use/import my already created creations and/or can not use/export them for other needs after costly reconstruction.
Therefore the usual import/export formats for 3d and from 2d drawing tools (as a workaround at least svg, png) should be supported.
For me Cubify Invent currently has only one advantage over the free SketchUp: I’m used to draw with grid and I am totally lost without it ;-)
In the help file, I do not have found a snap-to-object tool – it may exist but is called differently?
“snap to _grid_” is not enough. For example after copying a base part – even with the pattern tool, the analysis shows a lot of mistakes though pushed together as closely as possible.

I love the tool, I’ve already used it to produce some parts and they’ve turned out well.
I have one question, how do I manage assemblies, i.e. create two parts separately for printing and see them together to check alignment or create them together and separate them for printing. There appears to be no way to copy/paste or import another .FUN file into my current work?

      Hi MakeALot,

Great to hear you’re getting some good results! What have you made so far?

Unfortunately, Cubify Invent doesn’t support assemblies today. An alternative product that does support them is Alibre Design, http://www.alibre.com/products/hobby/. Hope that helps answer your question!

I, too, have found the software a lot of fun and love the interface. However, it is severely limited in what one can do with, say, curved text moving through a plane, etc. I guess I’ll have to learn another program as well…or wait until Inmvent catches up…:)
